Wine Country

On our recent 4 day visit to Northern California, we had the opportunity to spend 1 1/2 glorious days basking in the sunshine of the beautiful Napa and Sonoma Valley Regions.

The shots above and below here are of the the gorgeous Hennessey House (the pics are from their website), a bed and breakfast we stayed in for two nights .

You have to check out the virtual tour here of their incredible breakfast room. The ceilings are stamped copper tin panels that have been beautifully stenciled and painted with a vine motif. And the breakfasts.... my mouth is watering with the memory!
Our room.....

I love pastoral views like this one. I feel a real sense of peace when I look at them. This region is full of green rolling hills, storybook estates, and magnificent rows and rows of grapevine.

We spent Saturday afternoon sampling the scenery and meandering through the boutiques, antique shops and bookstores generously sprinkled throughout the charming Victorian town of Petaluma. These views really took my breath away...

Above is hubby, taking in the view, probably trying to figure out a way to relocate us here :-)

This is why so many people love California...

Many people, my husband included, head to this region for the wine. I go for the scenery, the bread and the cheese!

Next post... come with me to San Francisco :-)!!!!!

I think I'm going to do wine country next year. Can't afford it this year, since I'm taking the youngest 2 daughters to Paris. Eeeek!!! It's going to cost me a fortune! I want to do a girlfriend weekend to Petaluma sometime....I think that would be a blast! I understand why people want to move there! Thanks for sharing!!!

Oh how I loved visiting there. I was able to do a little reminiscing through your photos.
Bill was stationed in Alameda and we loved doing all things Napa and near by, San Francisco and up and down Highway 1.
I KNOW you had a great time! It is gorgeous there!
Thank you for sharing the photos!
Wonderful!

I like your comment with the pix of your husband...:"trying to figure out how to relocate us here". I would love to live in Calif. but I have only been a visitor...perhaps it is too warm?? I like Carmel too and the now crowded LaGuna Beach. We were there for a tenth anniversay. We went, another time from San Fran. -to muir woods- acrross the Golden Gate Bridge_ up the coast- to the Russian River- to Sonoma for dinner- back to San Fran. That is how my hubby does trips...he likes to see as much as possible! The next day we went south for the day to monteray.
hope your trip is RELAXING...it looks like it is FABULOUS!

These photos are so lovely. I especially love the rolling green hills and the sheep. My secret dream when I was a little girl was to live on a sheep farm and spin and dye my own wool.

Looks like you had a wonderful trip!

Those photos are beautiful - the ones of the green hills look so much like the Downs here in Sussex - we have been out walking on them everyday this week! Looks like you had a wonderful time. Happy Easter!
